From Our Pastor

Welcome to the Woodland Presbyterian website! I am glad that you have found your way to our site and hope that you find it informative and encouraging.

Woodland Presbyterian Church is a group of Christian believers in the Hattiesburg, MS area. We exist to worship and serve the living God, who has loved us from before the foundation of the world, saved us from our sins through the death and resurrection of his Son, and abides with us through the Holy Spirit.

We gather Sunday by Sunday, and throughout the week, to proclaim the unsearchable riches of God’s grace in our Lord Jesus Christ. We do this by reading, singing and preaching God’s inerrant word, by prayer, and through the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We strive to love one another, to bear one another’s burdens, to spend time together, and to pray for each other. We also strive to love and serve our neighbors with grace and compassion, as God has loved us.

We are a Presbyterian church. This means, in part, that our congregation is governed by elders, who are chosen by the congregation, and that it is connected with other congregations beyond ours. We are a part of Grace Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). As such, we joyfully embrace and teach according to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

I hope that you will join us for worship soon. We will be delighted to welcome you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Rev. David T. Irving

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
